ITALIAN CLUB...YBOR CITY
Tampa's Italians have supported a flourishing club life almost from their first arrival in the 1880's. L'Unione Italiana, the first mutual aid society, was organized in 1894. Initially located directly across the street, the club stood there until fire destroyed it in 1914. The Italian community replaced it with the present structure in 1918.
Although there are many conflicting dates of construction, it doesn't take away from the historic value and ambience of this magnificent building. The staff here does a tremendous job of keeping the place immaculate and they are extremely courteous to the many people that visit here every day.
The downtown vicinity is a picturesque historical setting of long-standing buildings and dotted with cigar shops containing hand rolled cigars by the weathered, but skillful hands of old school Cuban immigrants.
The immaculate design of this location gives it the impression of being void of any type of paranormal activity; but don't be fooled. With a wealth of energy from the past stamped within its walls, the Italian Club is still the meeting place of those long gone and they have no problems with making their presence known to those who dare enter their territory.
FGT has hosted many events here and a lot of participants have had encounters that either shook them up and some of them have even walked out due to things appearing before them. We even had a reporter pack up and leave after an encounter in the theater area.
Some of our own members have had experiences here that they will never forget.
